The purpose of the Oral Clinical Examination (OCE) is to enable the candidate to demonstrate proficiency in diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical care.
The examination is composed of two parts, each is one-hour in duration, timed, and given during the same session. Each of the two parts are administered by a pair of examiners. Each one-hour part consists of four clinical protocols (vignettes) that are presented to the candidate for discussion.

He is has written various papers as the Handbook of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office, Handbook of Local Anesthesia and Sedation - a guide to patient management and he\'s author of the interactive DVDs: Emergency Medicine y Malamed\'s Local Anesthetic Technique DVD
William Ben Johnson is an endodontist, inventor, entrepreneur, educator and philanthropist. He developed Thermafil and then established Tulsa Dental Products, beginning with the modernization of endodontic treatment. He has received several awards such as the 2004 President\'s Award from the American Association of Endodontists and the 2000 Louis I Grossman Award from the French Endodontic Society. He is member of the Oklahoma Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, and the International College of Dentists, among others. Most recently, Johnson has directed his efforts toward designing instruments for improved cleaning and shaping of the root canal system. He received his DDS degree and endodontic certificate from Baylor University Dental School
Eric M. Rivera, DDS, is expert in the field of endodontics. He is associate professor of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He previously served as Chair and Graduate Program Director of the Department of Endodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and as section editor for endodontics at the Quintessence International Dental Journal. He is member of various dental institutions, including American Dental Association, International Association for Dental Research, American Dental Education Association and American Association of Endodontics. Dr. Rivera holds a DDS and a MS from the University of North Carolina.
